And was dying to find it on CD but it was never present on the releases and I didnt understand why! At that time I had no idea it was from Broken Arrow as I'd never seen that film. I remember I absolutely loved the Dewey theme back then. Also hit with controversy for ripping off Randy Edelman's "Fire In A Brooklyn Theater" which actually became the de-facto chord progression for Media Ventures throughout a lot of these late 90s action scores. Coupled with obvious pandering by teen heartthrob Christian Slater, pop-culture cameo by Howie Long, and helmed by hot new director John Woo, BROKEN ARROW was enjoyed as pure popcorn entertainment not to be taken seriously.Ī fun score though and way lighter than THE ROCK. When the movie came out it was so laughable and distracting.Įven in BROKEN ARROW it was laughable but fitting with the hammy, over-the-top performance from Travolta. I never understood why Dewey's Theme in SCREAM 2 was ripped directly from Broken Arrow. As far as I know, Eddy didn't play on Beltrami's score.

They used cues from "Broken Arrow" for that one. On a totally unrelated note, Duane Eddy also provided some delightful guitar stylings for the horror film Scream 2.įorgive me for asking a rather obvious question, did Duane Eddy play on Badalamenti's main theme from 'Twin Peaks' ?Įddie Dixon and Vinnie Bell are credited as guitarists on the Twin Peaks soundtrack album. I like the fact that Duane Eddy and the Rebels' surf instrumental of BECAUSE THEY'RE YOUNG became a hit, a film that Williams scored early on in his career. He's had plenty of film score connections over the years, of course. I recently bought this Zimmer score and discovered that the legendary Duane Eddy took part.who else.įun score, Eddy's playing adds so much to this scoreĪlas, the score is too much of a whimsical noise fest to me, but yeah - Eddy's involvement is cool.
